Our Lodge WebM@ster & Website

Our Lodge Fellow WebM@ster

Worshipful Brother Edward Davis, Past Master of Saint John's Lodge No.1 ~ 2006
In the beginning...
In 2000 it had been discussed amongst the area Masonic Lodges to set up individual Lodge websights, in conjuction with the e-mason website provider. Since that time I have been collecting and digitizing items pertaining to the Craft in General and Saint John's Lodge No.1 in particular, in anticipation of one day being afforded the time and energy to compile this resource into a dedicated Lodge Website.

In April of 2007 permission was sought and received from the Grand Lodge of Newfoundland & Labrador for a dedicated Lodge Sanctioned Website. Saint John's Lodge No.1's Website was officially launched in May of 2007. The overall site is voluntarily maintained by Worshipful Brother Edward Davis, PM(2006) of Saint John's Lodge No.1, for the benefit of the Membership of Saint John's Lodge No.1 in particular. The site is designed to be informative and enlightening to those who are curious about the Craft in General as well as to provide as a useful resource for day to day updated information for the Membership of Saint John's Lodge No.1.

In May of 2011 the Grand Lodge of Newfoundland and Labrador officially notified all Lodges operating under their jurisdiction that they were revoking any Grand Master's previously granted authority for any of those same Lodges to maintain their own Lodge Websites without first reapplying for permission through the Office of their respective District Grand Masters, and than by receiving new written authority through a Grand Lodge appointed Committee recently created to oversee these sort of digital matters of interest.  The Worshipful Master, Webm@ster, and the Lodge Secretary of Saint John's Lodge No.1 make several attempts, each year, since August 2011, through the directed appropriate channels to officially reaffirm our written 2007 granted operating permission under this newly formed Committee structure.  During our Lodge's 2012 Annual Installation Meeting the Lodge's Membership was officially notified, by the Committee Chairperson, that there had been an internal delay in the Committee receiving our August 2011 submission and that pending the official review process we were permitted to continue to operate our Lodge's Website unless that same Committee advises our Lodge otherwise. To date, the Lodge has received no communication on this matter and continues to await a response from the appropriate Committee.

The East of our original Lodge Meeting Room, within the Hallowed Halls of The Masonic Temple, located at 6 Cathedral Street in St. John's, NL, Canada.

The Masonic Temple was vacated by our Lodge on June 13th, 2007, as per the directive from the MW Bro. Maxwell Squires, The Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Newfoundland & Labrador ~ 2006-2007.
